Lather Up For Relief
12 Hour Marathon Dog Wash and Bake Sale Saturday, October 15 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Get a clean dog and a snack and help hurricane victims on Saturday, October 15. Ellie's Pet Hotel and Bear River Animal Hospital are teaming up to help victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita by hosting a 12-hour Marathon Dog Wash and bake sale. The event will be from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Ellie's Pet Hotel, 1470 West Forest Street in Brigham City, with the staff of both Ellie's and Bear River Animal Hospital working to groom dogs to earn donations for relief efforts. Grooming will be on a first-come, first-served basis. For a $10 donation, dogs will be bathed and their nails trimmed. For $15, dogs will receive a bath, nail trim and 15 minutes of fluff drying. For $5, dogs' nails will be trimmed. Soda, cookies and other bake sale treats will also be available to purchase in front of Ellie's Pet Hotel. Veterinarian Dr. LaMar Johnson and several veterinary technicians will groom dogs, as well as Ellie's owner Phylene Anderson and her staff. All proceeds from the Marathon Dog Wash event will be donated to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary's hurricane relief efforts. "We've all given everything we can to help the people affected by these tragedies," said Anderson. "We wanted to do something to help the displaced pets, and help decrease their suffering, too. So many evacuees had to leave behind their animals, who are part of their families. Helping Best Friends' efforts to rescue pets and reunite or re-adopt them to loving families will help ease the long-term stress of the hurricanes."
