Dog Vaccination Requirements

By Booking with Ellie’s Pet Hotel you ensure your dog will be properly vaccinated prior to drop-off.

REQUIRED VACCINATIONS

For the safety of every pup in our care, all dogs staying at Ellie’s Pet Hotel must be current on the following vaccinations prior to drop-off:

Rabies

Parvo (often listed as DAPP, DHPP, or another Combo)

Bordetella (Kennel Cough)

HOW TO SEND

Records may be:

– Texted to (435-695-3727)

– Emailed to (elliespethotel@gmail.com)

– Sent directly to us by your veterinarian’s office

Your paperwork must clearly show Rabies, Parvo (or the specific combination that includes Parvo), and Bordetella. If Parvo and Bordatella are part of a combo vaccine, please confirm this with your vet and note it in your text or email so we can process your reservation without delay.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Because of the high volume of pups entering and exiting our facility, we are unable to contact veterinary offices to obtain or confirm records. Please provide clear records to prevent any hick-ups during the check-in process.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment for every dog who stays with us. We’re grateful for your partnership in giving your pup the best boarding experience possible.

When do I need to send vaccination records?

Please send records at least 48 hours before your reservation to allow time for review and confirmation.

What if I forget to send records?

If we do not have valid vaccination records on file prior to arrival, we will not be able to check your pup in. This may result in cancellation of your reservation.

Will you call my vet to get records?

Unfortunately, due to the volume of dogs we serve, we are unable to contact veterinary offices on your behalf. Records must be submitted by the pet owner or sent directly from the vet.

My boarding is soon and I can’t get into a vet. What do I do?

If you’re in a pinch, we recommend PetsFirst, located right up the street from our Brigham City location. They are often able to accommodate same-day appointments.

If you prefer to avoid a vet visit:

  • Parvo (DAPP/DHPP) and

  • Bordetella

are commonly available over the counter at stores such as Tractor Supply Company and are simple to administer.

Bordetella is even available as a one-time nasal spray.

We can accept a photo of the receipt and packaging as proof of purchase and date administered for Parvo and Bordetella.

However, Rabies must be administered by a licensed veterinarian. It is illegal in Utah to administer this yourself and we cannot accept over-the-counter Rabies vaccines.

Why are these vaccines required?

We care for a high volume of dogs each week. Requiring up-to-date vaccinations protects:

  • Your dog

  • Other dogs in our care

  • Our staff

Our goal is a safe, clean, and healthy environment for every pup.

PLEASE NOTE

We have no way of knowing whether an incoming guest has been exposed to an upper respiratory virus. An exposed animal may take from 5 to 7 days to show any signs of illness. Pets can contract these viruses on walks, in their own yards if a neighbor’s dog has it, or in the veterinarian’s office — anywhere they may come in close contact (airborne) with other animals. Boarded pets are susceptible to viruses such as bordetella, pneumonitis, etc. Even though all of our guests are vaccinated for these, vaccines are only effective against some strains of upper respiratory viruses and not 100 percent effective against any. These illnesses are usually limited to mild, cold-like symptoms (sneezing, coughing, etc). If you have concerns about this, please discuss them with your veterinarian.
